Imran Khan's sister arrested

Police have arrested Alima Khan, sister of Pakistan's imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab spokesperson said she was arrested from her home in Lahore on Sunday.

The party said Alima Khan was arrested ahead of PTI's rally scheduled for September 27.

Reuters reported that a spokesperson for the Pakistan government and police were asked for comment on Alima Khan's arrest, but no immediate response was received.

Pakistan's former captain of the World Cup-winning cricket team, Imran Khan, has been in prison for nearly three years. He was arrested in 2023 amid political tensions. He was arrested by Pakistan's paramilitary Rangers on the basis of a warrant issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
