Independent candidate for Faridpur-1 boycotts election

Independent candidate for Faridpur-1 constituency Sheikh Abdur Rahman Jico has announced his boycott of the election.

He announced this decision at a press conference at his residence in Kuchiagram of Gopalpur Union under Alfadanga Upazila at midnight on Wednesday (February 11).

Sheikh Abdur Rahman Jico said, 'From the beginning, I was a victim of multiple irregularities and discrimination in the election process. The incidents of my nomination paper being first canceled, later returned on appeal, and complications in allocating symbols raise questions about the transparency of the election system. I have also taken this decision due to security and mental stress.'

The independent candidate also said, 'Awami League is not participating in this election with the boat symbol. I have personally decided not to participate in the election out of respect for the party's position and discipline.'
