India has strengthened security along the border with Bangladesh ahead of the country’s 13th National Parliament election, officials said Tuesday (February 10).

Since morning, West Bengal Police have conducted patrols and checks in Swarupnagar block of North 24 Parganas district.

At Tetulia Bridge, police set up special checkpoints to inspect vehicles, verify IDs, and question suspicious individuals.

All major roads leading to the border and crime-prone areas, including the Ghojadanga sector, are under heightened surveillance. Hotels in the area are also being monitored, with guest records verified to prevent illegal movement.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has increased patrols along the frontier.

Officials said the measures aim to prevent illegal crossings and any untoward incidents during the sensitive election period. Additional security steps may be taken as the situation is monitored.
