The recent fall of Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government and the formation of interim government have affected many import-export businesses with the neighbouring country of India.

However, India is continuing diesel export to Bangladesh and the business has not been affected at all, Oil India Limited (OIL) Chairman and Managing Director Ranjit Rath told a media outlet of India.

Diesel is exported to Bangladesh through a pipeline from Assam's Numaligarh refinery. Numaligarh refinery is a subsidiary of OIL and Ranjit Rath is also the Chairman of Numaligarh Refinery.

He said, “Diesel export continues through the pipeline from India's Assam to Bangladesh's Parbatipur. No disruption has occurred in diesel exports.”

Around 5.126 km of diesel export pipeline is in India and 124.346 km in Bangladesh.

The pipeline has a capacity to transport 1 million tonnes of diesel annually, but currently exports about 400,000 tonnes of diesel.
