India has demolished the illegal outer structures and barricades of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi just three days after security barricades and parking poles were removed from in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Indian media India Today reported this information.

Government sources told news agency PTI that the Pakistan High Commission is located in the diplomatic area Chanakyapuri of Delhi. This eviction operation was conducted on government order as illegal structures were built outside the designated boundary of the High Commission on Thursday (August 20).

Sources further said bulldozers were used during the operation to demolish the structures made for line control near the embassy’s visa section and security barricades.

However the main gate of the High Commission, the white wall of the main building, the dome-shaped design and the large metal gate bearing the Pakistani national emblem remain intact. Barbed wire fencing is also clearly visible in some parts of the boundary in the published photos.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore during his Srinagar visit a day before this incident commented that Jammu and Kashmir is an important part of India. It has been confirmed that there is no connection between his statement and the eviction operation conducted at the Pakistan High Commission.
