India aims to strengthen its people-centric cooperation with Bangladesh in a positive, constructive, and forward-looking manner, Pranay Verma, India’s High Commissioner to Dhaka, said on Sunday (February 22).

Speaking to reporters after a courtesy meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and State Minister Shama Obaed Islam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Verma emphasised working together on the basis of mutual benefit and shared interests.

“We hope to advance our collaboration in ways that are positive, constructive, and future-oriented,” he said, underlining that people-to-people exchanges remain a critical component of bilateral ties.

The High Commissioner added that India remains committed to supporting Bangladesh as a democratic, progressive, and inclusive nation and looks forward to deepening engagement with the country’s new government.

Verma also reiterated India’s interest in strengthening historic ties and expanding multifaceted cooperation across all sectors.
