India ended a 58-year-long wait at Edgbaston in emphatic fashion, securing their first-ever Test victory at the iconic venue with a commanding 336-run win over England.

The result not only levels the five-match series 1-1 but also marks India's biggest overseas victory in Test history by run margin.

Pacer Akash Deep was the standout performer, claiming match figures of 10 for 141 — the best by an Indian bowler in a Test match on English soil. The 27-year-old took 4 wickets in the first innings and followed it up with a sensational 6 for 99 in the second, dismantling England's batting line-up on the final day.

India laid the foundation for the win with a mammoth first-innings total of 587. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a career-best 269 — the highest individual score by an Indian Test captain. He was supported by Ravindra Jadeja (89) and Washington Sundar (77).

In response, England were bowled out for 407. Mohammed Siraj claimed 6 wickets, while Akash Deep added 4 more to his match tally.

India continued their dominance in the second innings, declaring at 427/6. Gill added another 161 to his tally, while Rishabh Pant (65) and Jadeja (69*) contributed vital runs. The visitors set England a daunting target of 608 runs.

By stumps on Day 4, England were 123 for 3. After rain delayed play on the final day, Akash Deep struck early to remove Ollie Pope and Harry Brook. Jamie Smith showed resistance with a gritty 88, but it wasn't enough. England were eventually bowled out for 271, handing India a landmark victory.

The series now stands evenly poised at 1-1, setting the stage for a thrilling third Test.
