India enters the match as favourites after defeating the UAE by nine wickets in their opening game, while Pakistan is in rhythm following a 93-run win over Oman. Both teams are expected to field largely unchanged XIs.
India’s Probable XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson (wk), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarty. Key all-rounders and spinners are likely to form the backbone of the side.
Pakistan’s Probable XI: Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha (c), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Fahim Ashraf/Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufyan Mukim, Abrar Ahmed. Haris Rauf may return to bolster the pace attack, while spinners Abrar Ahmed and Sufyan Mukim are expected to continue from the Oman match.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia defended India’s participation amid political criticism, stating that skipping multinational events would harm India’s standing in global cricket. “We are part of the Asia Cup because it is a global competition, like the Olympics or FIFA tournaments,” he said.
Despite the surrounding political debate, fan excitement remains high. Millions worldwide are expected to watch as both sides take the field in what promises to be another thrilling chapter in one of cricket’s most storied rivalries.
