India refuses to attend ACC meeting in Dhaka
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed its scheduled tour of Bangladesh and expressed reluctance to attend an upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dhaka, citing security and political concerns.
According to Indian media outlet Anandabazar Patrika, the Indian cricket team was scheduled to visit Dhaka in August to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals, as per the International Cricket Council's Future Tours Programme. However, the BCCI has decided to defer the series by a year.
Additionally to the tour postponement, the BCCI has informed the ACC that it will not participate in the upcoming meeting in Dhaka to finalize the Asia Cup schedule, unless the venue is changed.
The Asia Cup, set to be held in the T20 format this year, is being hosted by India. However, since Pakistan has refused to tour India, the ACC is exploring neutral venues. While Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been considered, the BCCI is pushing for the tournament to be held in the UAE.
Although the Asia Cup is slated to begin on September 5, Indian officials have made it clear that no final decision will be taken without the approval of the Indian government.
