India to offer 30-day free tourist visa for Russians

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will introduce a 30-day free e-tourist visa and a 30-day group tourist visa for Russian citizens.

He made the announcement during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi's Hyderabad House on Friday (December 5).

Modi said the move aims to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between the two nations.

He highlighted the recent opening of two new Indian consulates in Russia, which will facilitate greater connectivity and expand cooperation in trade, tourism, science, technology, education, and culture.

The initiative is expected to enhance people-to-people contact, promote technical education, skills development, and exchange programmes for students, researchers, and athletes.

Modi also noted that India-Russia friendship could serve as a global force to address international challenges.
