India to welcome Messi with historic 70-foot tribute statue
Argentine World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi is set to visit India after 14 years, sparking nationwide excitement ahead of the highly anticipated “GOAT India Tour 2025.”
The 38-year-old football legend will arrive Friday night (December 12) and tour four cities—Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi—over three days (December 13–15). Each city will host special events in his honour.
A highlight of the tour will be the unveiling of a 70-foot statue of Messi in Kolkata, marking the tallest footballer statue in history. The tour will conclude in New Delhi, where Messi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Several of Messi’s Inter Miami teammates, including Luis Suarez and Argentina midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, will join him for parts of the tour.
