Indian cricket mourns, Rinku Singh's father passes away
A deep shadow of grief has fallen on the life of Indian cricketer Rinku Singh. His father Khanchand Singh passed away in Greater Noida after a long illness on Friday (February 27). He was undergoing treatment at Yatharth Hospital and breathed his last on Friday morning. Rinku has left the camp from the Indian team for the T20 World Cup to be with his family during this difficult time and returned home. Hindustan Times reported.
28-year-old Rinku is a resident of Aligarh district, India. He has mentioned many times the sacrifices made by his father behind his success in cricket. Khanchand Singh worked as a gas cylinder distributor and despite financial difficulties, he always supported his son in fulfilling his dream of becoming a cricketer. His father's role was important in the development of Rinku's cricketing career.
Earlier, Rinku had to leave the team and return home midway during the T20 World Cup due to his father's deteriorating health. After the match against South Africa, when the situation became critical, he quickly returned home. After spending time with his family, he rejoined the Indian team ahead of the match against Zimbabwe on 26 February. However, Rinku did not make it to the playing XI in that match; Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were given a chance to open.
The Indian cricket community has expressed grief over the death of Rinku's father. India's star batsman Virat Kohli wrote on social media, "Deeply saddened by the news of Rinku's father's death. I am with you and your family in this difficult time. May his blessings give you strength."
Former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh said, "The news of Rinku's father's death is very heartbreaking. No words are enough at such a time. I am with you and your family."
Former India opener Virender Sehwag wrote, "Rinku, deeply saddened by the passing of your father. Through countless sacrifices, he has raised a strong and extraordinary son - this is his greatest legacy.
Apart from this, many cricketers including Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal have expressed their condolences to Rinku and her family.
