Following police interrogation while in custody in a case filed by the female student at Mogra Police Station in Hooghly, Abishek was formally shown arrested on Tuesday. He was subsequently sent for a health check-up. The case is currently under judicial proceedings at the Chinsurah Court in Hooghly.
The complainant student claims that Abishek developed a physical relationship with her under the promise of marriage. It is also alleged that he recorded photos and videos of their private moments and later used them to threaten her.
To expedite the investigation of the case, the student recently approached the Calcutta High Court. Following the hearing, the court directed the police to arrest the accused cricketer and take necessary legal action.
Pursuant to the court's directives, Mogra Police have seized various electronic devices, including Abishek's mobile phone.
