Indian Visa Centre in Dhaka reopens after brief shutdown

India’s visa application centre in Dhaka has resumed operations after a temporary suspension triggered by security concerns, officials said on Thursday (December 18).

The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC), located at Jamuna Future Park, reopened this morning, restoring normal visa-related services.

Earlier, the IVAC's operations had been halted from 2:00pm on Wednesday as a precautionary measure amid fears of unrest.

The suspension followed the announcement of a “March to the Indian High Commission” by a coalition of groups under the banner “July Oikya,” linked to last year’s July mass uprising.

Officials, however, said the security environment continues to be monitored closely and that further measures may be taken if circumstances change.
