Injured journalist rescued, wife's body recovered from Rajshahi house

A journalist's wife died mysteriously in the Haragram area of ​​Rajshahi city. The journalist was also rescued from the scene with serious injuries.

Police said that journalist Golam Kibria Kamal, 55, was rescued from his rented house in the Haragram Bazar area with serious injuries. At that time, the body of his wife Rawshan Ara, 50, was found lying there.

Golam Kibria works as a journalist under the name Kamal Malik. He is currently working as the deputy editor of the local daily Rajshahi Sangbad. Police said that Golam Kibria lives on the second floor of a three-story house. On Friday evening, after receiving information through 999, the police went to the house. The doors of their house were locked from the inside. Later, they were taken out by breaking the doors. Rawshan Ara was lying on the floor while Golam Kibria was found over the bed. Later, they were quickly sent to the hospital by the help of fire service members.

They were later taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Billal Uddin, a doctor at the hospital's emergency department, said they found Rawshan Ara dead. A cloth was tied around her neck. The reason of her death can only be confirmed after the autopsy. Journalist Golam Kibria has received severe injuries on his hands and feet. He had consumed some kind of chemical substance. His condition is also critical. Treatment is underway.

Rajshahi Sangbad Editor Ahsan Habib Apu said, "We also came to the hospital after receiving the news of the incident. We still don't know how the incident happened. Journalist Kamal Malik's condition is critical. He has been taken to the ICU."

Rajshahi City Police Spokesperson Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Gaziur Rahman said, "Police are at the scene. The CID crime scene has also arrived. They are working. An investigation is underway into how the incident happened. We have not yet reached a point where we can comment."
