The website of the International Criminal Court (ICC), headquartered in The Hague, has come under a targeted cyberattack, the court confirmed on Tuesday through a statement posted on social media platform X.

According to the ICC’s Public Affairs Office, the court was the victim of a “new, sophisticated, and targeted cyberattack” last week. The cyber team at the ICC detected the breach shortly after it occurred and took swift action to contain it. “The situation is currently under control,” the statement added.

The ICC emphasized the importance of transparency in such incidents, stating, “The Court believes it is essential to inform the public and its member states about these types of attacks and the ongoing efforts to prevent them. With the support of the public and all member states, the ICC aims to confront these challenges. This support is vital to ensuring the Court’s ability to deliver justice and accountability — a shared responsibility among all States Parties.”

In response, Germany’s Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern, noting in a statement that the ICC is a key global judicial institution and that such attacks must not be taken lightly.

This incident follows a similar cyberattack on the ICC in 2023, highlighting ongoing threats to international judicial organizations.
