Internet cut off across Iran
Internet connections have been cut off across Iran. Online monitoring group Netblocks said on Thursday (January 8) that internet blackouts are being observed across Iran.
According to reports from various international media outlets, the protests that have been going on in Iran over the past few days over the increase in the cost of living have turned violent. In such a situation, internet services have been shut down.
The group said that various digital censorship measures were taken against the protesters before the internet shutdown. They said that when the country is going through a critical moment, the internet is being cut off and the right of ordinary people to communicate is being disrupted.
Protests began in Iran in late December due to the massive depreciation of the Iranian rial and the rising cost of living which are still ongoing. The scale of the protests is increasing day by day. The number of casualties is also increasing.
