Inu claims political vendetta against him at Tribunal
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu told the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday (November 2) that he is a “victim of political vengeance.”
“I am being targeted by fabricated cases driven by political motives. After God, you (the judge) are the arbiter of justice — I am completely innocent,” Inu said in court when asked whether he admitted to the charges.
The tribunal earlier ordered the commencement of trials against Inu and Awami League leader Mahbubul Alam Hanif in separate cases over the killing of six people in Kushtia during the July–August uprising. Arrest warrants were also issued against them.
The tribunal fixed November 25 for the opening statement in Hanif’s case and November 30 for Inu’s.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, passed the order.
The other members of the bench are retired district and sessions judges Md Manjurul Bashid and Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
