Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appointed Major General Mohammad Pakpour as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The announcement came on Friday after the recent Israeli attacks resulted in the death of the former IRGC commander, General Hossein Salami.

According to reports from Tasnim News and Al Jazeera, the Israeli strikes targeted multiple locations across Iran, including the IRGC headquarters in Tehran, where General Salami was present during the attack.

In addition to General Salami, the attacks claimed the lives of key military figures including Gholam Ali Rashid, Commander of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters, and General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the Armed Forces. The strikes also resulted in the assassination of six Iranian scientists: Abdullah Minaouchehr, Ahmad Reza Jolfaghari, Sayed Amir Hossein Fakhi, Motlabizadeh, Fereydoun Abbasi, and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi.

These developments mark a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and Israel, with Iran quickly appointing new leadership for the IRGC amid ongoing security concerns.
