US President Donald Trump has claimed that the conflict between the United States and Iran has come to an end, asserting that Tehran has agreed not to develop nuclear weapons under a new understanding between the two sides.

Speaking at a campaign tele-rally on Friday (June 12) in support of Alabama Senate candidate Barry Moore, Trump said Washington and Tehran had reached what he described as a comprehensive agreement aimed at ending months of heightened tensions.

“You may have already heard that we have completely ended the war with Iran today,” Trump said during the telephone address, adding that Iran had accepted a key US condition of not pursuing nuclear weapons.

The US president described the reported agreement as a major diplomatic breakthrough and claimed that the objectives sought by Washington had been achieved.

“Today we have settled all the issues with Iran. It is a great deal. There will be no nuclear weapons, and US troops deployed in the Middle East will begin returning home very soon,” Trump said.

According to Trump, the agreement paves the way for a broader peace process and could significantly reduce tensions across the region.

His remarks come after months of heightened military and diplomatic strain centred on the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, where regional security concerns have repeatedly raised fears of a wider confrontation.

However, no immediate confirmation of Trump's claims was available from Iranian authorities, and details of the reported agreement were not immediately disclosed.
