Iran conflict may end soon, says Trump
US President Donald Trump said the ongoing conflict with Iran could end soon, claiming significant degradation of Tehran’s military capabilities.
In an interview with the New York Post on Tuesday (March 31), Trump said US operations have left Iran’s ability to retaliate “largely diminished,” adding that only limited objectives remain.
“We won’t be there much longer,” he said, while noting that some remaining military targets still need to be addressed.
Trump also expressed optimism that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen soon, despite ongoing disruptions to maritime traffic.
He said countries reliant on the key shipping route would likely take steps to restore navigation, as the waterway carries a significant share of global oil supplies.
Analysts say the remarks reflect Washington’s assessment that Iran’s capacity to pose a broader threat has been weakened, though regional tensions remain high.
