Iran has vowed retaliation following the killing of its top security chief, Ali Larijani, in an Israeli airstrike, reports BBC.

Iranian Army Chief Amir Hatami made the declaration describing Larijani as a martyr and said a “decisive, preventive, and punishing response” against what he called “bloodthirsty Zionist rule and the United States” would be carried out at the appropriate time and place.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly launched missiles targeting central Israel.

Qatari news outlet Al Jazeera reported at least two fatalities from the missile strikes. Sirens were heard across several Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

Qatar’s defense authorities said its armed forces intercepted the Iranian missile attacks, while Kuwait’s National Guard reported shooting down seven unmanned aerial vehicles.

Israeli strikes continued in Beirut, Lebanon, where intense explosions were reported, raising regional tensions further.
