Iran executes another individual over alleged ties to Mossad
Iran has executed Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh, who was accused of collaborating with Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad. The execution was confirmed by Iran's semi-official news agencies, Tasnim and Fars, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
Tasnim described Shayesteh as the leader of a "cyber team linked to Mossad." He was reportedly arrested in late 2023.
This marks the third execution carried out by Iranian authorities since Israel launched strikes on Iran on June 13. The first execution took place at dawn on June 16, followed by a second on July 22. All three individuals were convicted of espionage for Israel.
Al Jazeera noted that it has not been able to independently verify the charges against the individuals.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized Iran for its use of the death penalty and for allegedly failing to uphold fair trial standards in such cases.
