Iran formally accepts two-week ceasefire deal
Iran has formally agreed to a two-week ceasefire arrangement, with the country’s Supreme National Security Council approving the deal amid ongoing regional tensions.
According to a statement carried by state-run Mehr News Agency, the agreement was reached with the consent of Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
The ceasefire process was facilitated through mediation by Pakistan, marking a key diplomatic development in efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
Iran’s top security body described the agreement as a “victory” for the country, while signaling readiness for further negotiations aimed at a long-term settlement.
Follow-up talks are expected to take place in Islamabad as both sides seek to build on the temporary truce.
