Iran gives protesters three days to surrender
Iran’s national police chief Ahmad-Reza Radan has called on those who joined anti-government protests after being “misled” to surrender within the next three days.
He made the remarks on Monday, January 19, according to Roya News.
In a statement broadcast on state television, Ahmad-Reza Radan said young people who were unintentionally drawn into the unrest were being viewed not as enemies but as deceived individuals.
He added that they would be treated with “leniency” under Iran’s system of governance and had been given a “maximum of three days” to surrender.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a stern warning that any attack targeting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei would be considered a “full-scale war”.
In a message posted on social media platform X on Sunday, January 18, the president issued the warning.
Pezeshkian also said that long-standing US sanctions and hostility played a major role in fuelling the bloody protests of the past two weeks.
