World Health Organisation Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has expressed concern over the safety of Iran's nuclear facilities following US-Israeli strikes, particularly after an attack near the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

In a post on X, Tedros said the attack is a stark reminder that a single strike could trigger a nuclear accident, whose health consequences would devastate generations. As the conflict continues, the risks and threats are growing.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has reported that a missile struck close to the power plant, and shrapnel from the blast killed a worker at the facility.

Bushehr is Iran's only operational nuclear power plant. Located in the city of Bushehr, home to approximately 250,000 people, the facility is one of Iran's most important industrial and military infrastructures.
