Iran sets 3 conditions for US to end war

Iran has set three conditions for ending the ongoing war with the United States and returning to talks. The country's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said the conditions have already been sent to Washington through Qatari mediators.

Tehran is now awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump, according to Al Jazeera.

Iran's conditions are:

First, the war must be stopped immediately on all fronts.

Second, Iran's frozen funds and assets held by the United States must be released.

Rezaei said indirect communication with the United States continues through the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan.

He claimed that accepting Iran's conditions would also be positive for Washington's interests. At the same time, the Iranian official commented that Trump's threats will not yield any results.

Rezaei also warned that Iran is prepared for a "decisive war" if the talks fail. He claimed Iran has identified the weaknesses of the US military and that Tehran is more prepared than before to counter a possible US airstrike.

Rezaei further said Iran recently tested anti-ship missiles near a US aircraft carrier. He also warned that if Iran is attacked, stronger attacks will be carried out on US bases and interests in the region.

Criticising the change in US policy, Rezaei said Iran had to reassess its strategy after Washington moved away from the previous memorandum of understanding. He also blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the ongoing conflict.

Meanwhile, Rezaei also emphasised reducing regional conflict. He said he wants an end to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis. He claimed the Houthis are also interested in reaching an understanding with Riyadh.

Qatar and Pakistan have been trying for the past few weeks to restart indirect talks between the United States and Iran. Amid this, the emergence of Iran's three conditions has drawn attention to the next diplomatic steps.
