Iran strikes hit 2 million-barrel cargo at Dubai port
Iran carried out a missile strike on Monday (March 31), hitting a Kuwaiti crude oil tanker at Dubai Port.
The tanker carrying 2 million barrels of oil caught fire after being struck, according to Iranian state media.
Citing the Kuwaiti national oil company, the state news agency KUNA reported that the tanker, anchored in Dubai’s port area, was targeted in a planned assault amid Tehran’s ongoing operations in the Persian Gulf following recent US and Israeli strikes.
However, no casualties were reported following the strike.
Dubai authorities confirmed that firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze. However, the tanker—fully loaded with fuel—sustained significant hull damage, raising concerns over potential oil leakage.
The affected vessel has a capacity of nearly 2 million barrels of crude, with a market value exceeding $200 million.
Kuwait’s military also stated on social media that its air defense systems intercepted hostile missiles and drone attacks during the incident.
