Iran wants to hold the US and Israel accountable for the assassination of its leaders, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, Ismail Baghaei, told Russia’s Ria Novosti news agency. “We must do this. And I believe that it is not only Iran, but the entire international community that is calling for those responsible to be held to account,” he said, reports Guardian. Israel has killed a number of Iran’s most powerful figures since the start of the war, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the former supreme leader, and Ali Larijani, a top national security official.

শীর্ষ নেতাদের হত্যার ঘটনায় যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও ইসরায়েলকে জবাবদিহির আওতায় আনা উচিত বলে দাবি করেছে ইরান। দেশটির পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের মুখপাত্র ইসমাইল বাঘাই রাশিয়ার সংবাদমাধ্যম আরইএ নোভোস্তিকে দেওয়া এক সাক্ষাৎকারে এ মন্তব্য করেন। তিনি বলেন, আমাদের অবশ্যই এটি করতে হবে। শুধু ইরান নয়, পুরো আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায়ই এসব ঘটনার জন্য দায়ীদের জবাবদিহির দাবি জানাচ্ছে। বাঘাই আরও বলেন, মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের চলমান সংঘাতের প্রেক্ষাপটে বিভিন্ন সময় ইরানের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তিদের হত্যার অভিযোগ উঠেছে, যার জন্য তেহরান দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও ইসরায়েলকে দায়ী করে আসছে। তবে এসব ঘটনায় আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে তদন্ত বা দায় নির্ধারণ নিয়ে এখনো কোনো চূড়ান্ত সমাধান হয়নি বলে তিনি উল্লেখ করেন। ইরানের এই বক্তব্য এমন এক সময়ে এলো, যখন মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে উত্তেজনা ও সংঘাতের প্রেক্ষাপট নিয়ে আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে আলোচনা চলছে।
