Iran will continue its nuclear programme: Araghchi
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conveyed a strong message about the country's nuclear programme, stating, "The 'uranium enrichment programme' will continue at any cost," reports London based media outlet New Arab.
In an interview Araghchi said, "Iran's nuclear technology is an achievement gained by the sacrifices of many scientists. We will not abandon it under any circumstances."
"Iran has been subjected to war and sanctions over its nuclear programme, but the Iranian people will not yield to pressure," he added, reaffirming Tehran’s unwavering stance.
Fuad Ejadi, Professor of International Relations at Tehran University, said the strikes violated the terms of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). "These facilities should not have been targeted under the NPT framework," he said. "With such actions taking place, Iran’s continued commitment to the agreement is now open to question."
Professor Fuad Ezadi has indicated that Iran could formally reconsider its membership in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in the coming weeks.
He said a majority of Iranian lawmakers now support withdrawing from the agreement in response to recent attacks on the country’s nuclear facilities. "Most members of parliament are in favor of exiting the NPT, and a formal decision could be made soon," Ezadi stated.
