Iranian missile strikes kill 8, wounds hundreds across Israel
At least seven people were killed and more than 100 injured after Iran launched a new wave of missile attacks on Israel late Saturday night (June 14), reports CNN.
According to Israeli authorities and emergency services, the deadliest strikes took place in northern Israel, where a direct hit killed four people, including two women in their 40s, a 20-year-old woman, and a 13-year-old girl, Israeli police confirmed.
Emergency response teams continue to search for survivors trapped under rubble as several buildings sustained significant damage.
Additional casualties were reported in the central Israeli town of Bat Yam, where a missile struck a residential building, killing a woman in her 60s. According to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency service, at least two others were killed in the same attack.
The missile barrage caused widespread damage across central Israel, with several buildings partially collapsed or heavily damaged. Authorities report that at least 100 people have been injured in the attacks, many of them critically.
Hospitals across the region are on high alert, and medical personnel are working around the clock to treat the influx of casualties. Rescue operations are ongoing in affected areas.
Israeli officials have elevated the national security threat level, deploying additional air defense units and security forces across major cities in anticipation of potential follow-up attacks.
The Iranian government has not yet officially commented on this latest escalation. The attack follows heightened tensions in the region after a series of strikes earlier this week between the two countries.
The international community has called for calm, with world leaders urging both sides to de-escalate.
