Iran’s Defense Minister visits China following ceasefire with Israel
Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh has departed for a two-day visit to China, just days after a ceasefire was declared between Iran and Israel.
According to a report by BBC Bangla on Thursday, Nasirzadeh is in China to attend a meeting of defense ministers from member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with China's Defense Minister.
The timing of the visit is significant, coming amid growing criticism of Iran’s military and defense leadership. In the wake of recent Israeli airstrikes, questions have been raised about how Iranian forces lost control of the country’s airspace in the initial hours of the attack.
The visit is seen as part of Iran’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional alliances and engage with key strategic partners as tensions in the Middle East continue to simmer.
