Iran’s top General Mohammad Bagheri killed in Israeli strike
Israeli airstrike on Iran's neuclear sites has killed General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, according to Iranian state television.
The strike marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two regional rivals.
The operation, reportedly codenamed “Operation Rising Lion,” targeted multiple military and nuclear facilities across Iran, including sites near the capital, Tehran. Israeli officials say the strikes were aimed at disrupting Iran’s nuclear weapons programme.
Iranian media also reported that several senior military officials and two nuclear scientists were killed in the coordinated assault.
In a strongly worded response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the attack, calling it "proof of Israel's barbaric nature." He also warned that
"Israel had paved the way for its own tragic end and would certainly face the consequences," he warned.
