Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Chief Major General Seyed Majid Khademi has been killed in a strike attributed to US and Israeli forces, Iranian authorities said on Monday (April 6).

In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed his death, saying he was killed in a “terrorist attack by American-Zionist enemies,” without providing further details.

The killing comes amid escalating tensions following the collapse of recent talks between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes. The 21-day dialogue, held from February 6 to 27, ended without an agreement.

A day later, the United States launched “Operation Epic Fury,” while Israel initiated a parallel campaign dubbed “Operation Roaring Lion,” targeting Iranian military and strategic facilities.

Iran has since retaliated with waves of drone and missile strikes targeting Israeli positions and US military bases across the Gulf region, including in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Iranian sources claim that at least 1,340 people have been killed in the country since the joint US-Israel strikes began on February 28, underscoring the intensifying regional conflict.
