Despite ongoing ceasefire talks in Doha, Qatar, Israel continues its attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip. On Friday, a devastating assault on refugee camps killed 61 Palestinians in a single day.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 61 people were killed across the region on Friday, while 77 were killed on Thursday.

An Al Jazeera report on Saturday (January 4) stated that nearly 140 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks over the past two days since the start of the ceasefire discussions.

The report highlighted that Gaza's residents are not spared from Israel’s brutal attacks. While Israeli forces claim to be targeting Hamas, they are bombing refugee camps and the few functioning hospitals in the region. These attacks are leaving displaced and innocent residents dead or injured.

On Friday, Israeli forces launched widespread attacks on the Maghazi refugee camp, Zawaida, and other areas in Gaza, killing more than 50 Palestinians. Significant damage to infrastructure has also been reported.

The Israeli military claimed they targeted 40 Hamas positions and tried to minimize harm to civilians. However, Hamas has denied these claims.

Amnesty International has strongly condemned Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza. In a statement, the human rights organization said that the arrest of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, by Israeli forces is part of a larger effort to "destroy" Gaza's healthcare system.

Meanwhile, on Friday, millions of people rallied in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, in solidarity with the people of Gaza. During the rally, Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the armed Houthi group, announced two operations carried out by the Houthis against Israel. Protesters chanted slogans in support of Palestine and burned the flags of the United States and Israel.
