Israeli media outlet Media Haym has claimed that former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was killed in strikes by Israel and the United States.

The report said Ahmadinejad's residence was targeted in the attack. He was under house arrest at the time.

Meanwhile, multiple Iranian defence officials have confirmed that three of Ahmadinejad's bodyguards were killed in the strike. However, they have not commented on the death of the former president.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad served as Iran's president from 2005 to 2013. He was known for his hardline conservative ideology. During his tenure, Iran's relations with the Western world experienced intense tensions, and the country's nuclear programme sparked widespread international debate.

The controversial 2009 election and subsequent protests are also considered significant events during his presidential term.
