Israel has confirmed it carried out an airstrike aimed at the top leadership of Hamas in Qatar, Reuters reported. The exact location of the attack has not been officially disclosed.

Local media in Qatar reported explosions in the capital city of Doha, accompanied by visible columns of smoke. A senior Israeli official stated the strike targeted Hamas deputy leader Khalil al-Hayya and senior official Zaher Jabareen.

According to Saudi news channel Al Arabiya, Khalil al-Hayya, who is also Hamas's chief negotiator, was killed in the strike. Israeli officials told Reuters that the operation focused on Hamas leaders gathered in Qatar, but details on casualties and the overall damage have not been confirmed.

Al Jazeera cited a Hamas source claiming the group's negotiation team was meeting in Doha to discuss US President Donald Trump's latest ceasefire proposal when the attack occurred.

Qatar condemned the strike, describing it as a “cowardly” violation of its sovereignty and international law. The Qatari government has announced a high-level investigation into the incident.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that an Israeli official claimed President Trump gave a "green light" for the operation, and that Washington was notified before the strike.
