At least 67 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on northern Gaza within the past 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The attacks began early Saturday (September 6), targeting residential buildings housing displaced families, reports Al Jazeera.

The ministry says a total of 64,368 Palestinians have been killed and 162,367 injured since the war began. Many civilians are still trapped under rubble.

Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera reported that Israel has intensified its destruction of Gaza City, occupying it and forcibly displacing nearly one million Palestinians there to the west and south. The army has announced that it has captured 40 percent of the city so far. They are continuing their operations and destroying residential towers one after another. After the Mushtaha Tower, the 15-story Al-Susi Residential Tower has also been blown up.

The latest strikes come after Israel resumed its offensive on March 18, ending a temporary ceasefire. Since then, 11,768 people have been killed and 49,964 wounded, the ministry added.

The war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an attack that killed 1,139 people in Israel and took around 200 hostages.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Galant for alleged war crimes in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
