Israeli Army Chief warns of troop shortage amid ongoing conflict
The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, has warned that Israel’s military is facing a growing troop shortage as it continues to fight across multiple fronts.
Speaking at a meeting of Israel’s security cabinet on Wednesday (March 25), the army chief cautioned that a prolonged war could severely strain the armed forces, stating, what he described as “ten red warnings” regarding the current situation,
Zamir stressed that unless the manpower deficit is addressed urgently, the military could soon lose its capacity to sustain regular operations.
To mitigate the crisis, he proposed several key measures, including enacting new conscription laws, recalling former soldiers to active duty, and extending the duration of mandatory military service.
