At least 10 people have been killed in an Israeli drone strike near a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza, health officials said on Monday, April 6. Several others were injured in the attack.

The strike occurred during clashes between an Israel-backed armed group and local Palestinians east of the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

Witnesses said the drone fired two missiles during the clashes, which landed in a densely populated area where most residents are displaced people.

Locals alleged that members of the armed group had attacked a school and attempted to abduct some people, sparking resistance from residents. The drone strike followed shortly after.

"We were trying to protect our homes, but we were directly targeted," witness Ahmed al-Maghazi said.

A leader of the Israel-backed group claimed they had killed five Hamas members. However, this claim could not be independently verified. Hamas had no immediate comment.

In a separate drone strike in Gaza City, a Palestinian on a motorcycle was killed and a child accompanying him was injured. Medical sources also reported that another person was killed by gunfire targeting a vehicle in central Gaza.

At least 12 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Monday. Violence continues despite an ongoing ceasefire, leaving the situation increasingly uncertain.
