Israeli drone strike in Lebanon kills 5, including 4 US citizens

Five people, including three American children and their father, were killed in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon. Israel also claimed one Hezbollah member was killed in the attack. The incident was reported by Al Jazeera on Sunday (21 September).

Lebanon’s health ministry said the strike took place despite a ceasefire mediated by the US in November.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attack as a “massacre” against civilians, saying it was meant to intimidate the people of southern Lebanon.

The state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that a motorcycle and a car were targeted in the strike. Along with the five killed, two others were injured.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed that the victims—three children named Selin, Hadi, and Asil, along with their father—were American citizens. Their mother was wounded in the attack.

Israel claims it frequently strikes Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon to prevent the Iran-backed group from rebuilding its military power against Israel.
