Israeli strikes in Lebanon kill 14 including women, children
At least 14 people, including two children and two women, were killed and 37 others injured in Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Sunday (April 26), according to the country’s health ministry.
The attacks followed evacuation warnings issued by the Israeli military for several villages in southern Lebanon, cautioning residents to leave the areas immediately.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes involved artillery and air raids targeting Hezbollah members and facilities, alleging they were preparing attacks against Israeli forces.
Separately, the IDF reported that a 19-year-old Israeli soldier was killed and six others injured in a Hezbollah drone attack. Israel said three drones were launched but intercepted before entering its airspace.
The escalation comes amid a fragile ceasefire between the two sides, which took effect on April 16 and was recently extended.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military is continuing operations in Lebanon, accusing Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire and posing immediate threats.
