At least 254 people were killed in a wave of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon on Wednesday, despite an ongoing temporary ceasefire between US, Israel and Iran.

The heaviest casualties were reported in the capital, Beirut, where the civil defense said 91 of the deaths were residents of the city. Large plumes of smoke were seen rising over residential areas, with multiple buildings reportedly collapsing in the attack.

Witnesses said several strikes were carried out without prior warning, exacerbating civilian casualties.

Benjamin Netanyahu said Hezbollah is not covered under the ceasefire agreement with Iran, and operations against the group will continue.

He added that while some targets have been achieved in operations against Iran, “many more remain,” and Israel is prepared to escalate if necessary.

Meanwhile, Iran signaled growing frustration. According to reports citing the Tasnim News Agency, Tehran warned it could withdraw from the ceasefire arrangement if attacks on Lebanon persist.
