Israeli strikes kill 47 more in Gaza, West Bank also under attack
At least 28 more Palestinians have been killed in continued Israeli assaults across the besieged Gaza Strip. Among the dead are individuals who had gathered near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid center in search of food and relief. Meanwhile, Israeli attacks also persist in several areas of the occupied West Bank, including Bethlehem and Ramallah in East Jerusalem.
According to Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera, between early morning and evening on Monday (July 14), Israeli airstrikes and ground attacks killed 27 people in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Valley. Another 20 people were killed in central and southern Gaza.
Citing the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Al Jazeera reported that an Israeli airstrike on a water tanker in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed one person and injured several others.
Sources at Baptist Hospital said two people were killed in an attack on the Shujaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. Al-Shifa Hospital reported that three people, including a woman, were killed near the University College in southern Gaza City. Five more Palestinians were killed in Al-Saftawi.
Meanwhile, Israeli fighter jets targeted a house near the Al-Tuffah Al-Shurafa intersection in eastern Gaza City. Another strike hit a house in the southern Sabra neighborhood, injuring one person. One person was killed in a bombing at a residential building in the nearby Al-Sabra area.
The Gaza Ministry of Health also reported that since the war began, Israel has detained at least 360 healthcare workers inside the enclave, forcing them to live under harsh and inhumane conditions.
In a statement, the ministry said that among the detainees are several doctors, which has left thousands of injured Palestinians and patients without proper medical care. The ministry called for urgent international pressure to release the detained healthcare workers and hold Israel accountable for its actions.
According to the ministry, since the war began on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed at least 1,400 healthcare workers across Gaza. In total, the Israeli aggression has killed 58,073 people so far, the majority of them women and children. Another 138,500 have been injured, with 56% of the victims being women and children. Israeli forces have killed over 20,000 children during this time.
Israel claimed that its fighter jets carried out more than 100 airstrikes in Gaza in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Israeli attacks also continue in the occupied West Bank. On Monday, Israeli forces demolished a Palestinian home in the village of Al-Marah, south of Bethlehem. Video footage published by Palestinian platforms and verified by Al Jazeera shows an Israeli bulldozer tearing down the four-story building.
The schoolyard has essentially turned into a mourning ground, with Palestinians gathering there to grieve together.
On Friday (July 11), Israeli forces resumed attacks in the West Bank. In the Al-Mazra'a Al-Sharqiya area of Ramallah, 20-year-old Saifullah Musallet and 23-year-old Mohammed Al-Shalabi were killed by Israeli settlers from the coastal region. Saifullah, a U.S. citizen, was from Florida. He was beaten to death, and Shalabi was shot. Palestinians claim that they were not allowed to be taken to the hospital or even reached by an ambulance while injured.
According to local residents, after Friday prayers, a group of Palestinians gathered to protest the abuse. Israel alleged that protesters threw stones at Israeli citizens, which led to the destruction of Palestinian homes — a rampage that continued through Monday.
