At least 109 Palestinians have been killed and more than 100 others wounded in the past 24 hours as Israeli forces intensified their assault across the Gaza Strip, reports Al Jazeera.

Among the deadliest incidents on Tuesday was an attack on a food distribution centre operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), where Israeli soldiers reportedly opened fire on a crowd gathered for aid, killing at least 16 people, according to medical sources.

"People in Gaza are now faced with two horrific options: to starve, or to risk their lives collecting food," said a joint statement signed by more than 170 international aid agencies and non-governmental organisations. The statement called for the closure of the GHF, saying it "has brought only hunger and the fear of being shot to the people of Gaza."

Since the resumption of large-scale military operations, nearly 600 Palestinians have reportedly been killed, with dozens of daily fatalities becoming a grim routine amid the worsening humanitarian catastrophe.

In the north, Israeli forces have renewed attacks on Gaza City, where residents had previously been ordered to evacuate. According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, an Israeli drone strike killed at least five people in the city's Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood on Tuesday.

The United Nations reports that 82 percent of Gaza is now either under direct Israeli military control or facing imminent threats of forced displacement. "The newly displaced are camping on the streets. There is nowhere to go," said one resident of Sheikh Radwan.

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Israel has agreed to a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire. In a post on his social media platform 'Truth Social' on Tuesday night, Trump said Washington is actively working with all parties to end the war in Gaza, and has urged Hamas to accept the ceasefire offer.
