Jaafar Jackson joins Will Smith in new Prime Video thriller after 'Michael' breakout

Jaafar Jackson, who made his acting debut in the acclaimed Michael Jackson biopic "Michael," has signed on for his second film, the action-thriller "Supermax," produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax. He will star alongside Oscar winner Will Smith and actress AnnaSophia Robb.

According to entertainment outlet Deadline, "Supermax" is built around a mysterious murder inside one of the world's most secure prisons. Smith and Robb will play two FBI agents who take on the investigation and find themselves entangled in a complex mystery.

Details of Jackson's character have not yet been revealed, but filmmakers say the role will play a significant part in unraveling the mystery and advancing the story.

The film is being directed by David Gordon Green, known for "Halloween" and "The Exorcist: Believer," with a screenplay from David Weil and David J. Rosen, writers behind "Hunters" and "Invasion." "Supermax" will skip theatres and stream directly on Prime Video.

Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson, brother of pop icon Michael Jackson. He began learning music and piano at age 12 and released his debut single, "Got Me Singing," in 2019. He made his film debut playing the title role in director Antoine Fuqua's "Michael."

Following the success of "Michael," which grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, Jackson reportedly fielded multiple offers from Hollywood before choosing "Supermax" as his sophomore project.
