Jamaat wins all 4 seats in Satkhira
After 17 long years, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has made a significant political comeback in Satkhira district. In the 13th national parliamentary election, the party’s candidates were declared winners in all four constituencies of the district according to unofficial results. In the head-to-head contests with the BNP, it was ultimately the Jamaat candidates—backed by the 11-party alliance—who emerged ahead.
According to unofficial results, Md. Izzat Ullah was elected in Satkhira-1 (Tala–Kalaroa), Muhaddis Abdul Khalek in Satkhira-2 (Sadar–Debhata), Muhaddis Robiul Basar in Satkhira-3 (Ashashuni–Kaliganj), and G. M. Nazrul Islam in Satkhira-4 (Shyamnagar and part of Kaliganj).
From the very morning of election day, voter turnout was significant across the district’s 609 polling centers.
With nearly 1.83 million registered voters, the participatory atmosphere after many years generated widespread enthusiasm among the electorate.
To ensure free, fair, and peaceful voting, strict security measures were deployed in coordination with the army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and police.
Unlike the customary victory rallies and slogans, Jamaat leaders and supporters observed a different pattern after the results were announced. Following party instructions, they refrained from public celebrations and instead were seen offering prayers of gratitude at various locations.
Political analysts note that Satkhira has long been a stronghold of Jamaat. The party had previously seen success here in the 2001 parliamentary elections.
According to observers, the recent victories in all four constituencies were the result of organized campaigning, grassroots-level activism, and strategic positioning after a long hiatus.
