Jamal Bhuyan makes acting debut in World Cup-themed TV drama
National football team captain Jamal Bhuyan has made his acting debut, starring in Channel i's new television drama 'Brazentina Club', produced around the excitement of the FIFA World Cup.
Although Jamal has previously appeared in television commercials, this marks his first-ever role in a fiction production.
According to the production team, Jamal initially turned down the offer but later agreed after repeated requests from director Tarique Muhammad Hasan. The footballer said acting in a drama was a completely new and challenging experience despite his previous work in advertisements.
Actress Tasnuva Tisha plays Jamal's on-screen wife in the drama. The cast also features Ishtiaq Ahmed Rumel, Shahid Un Nabi, Anwar, Javed Gazi, Apu, Ashik, Tanvir and several others.
Written and directed by Tarique Muhammad Hasan, Brazilentina Club revolves around the passion, rivalry, humour and emotional clashes between supporters of Brazil and Argentina during the FIFA World Cup, portraying the sport's biggest fan rivalry through an entertaining storyline.
The drama is currently airing on Channel i every Saturday and Sunday at 10:10pm.
