Two of Bengal’s most iconic rock figures—Bangladeshi band star James of Nagar Baul and Indian rock vocalist Rupam Islam of Fossils—are set to share an international stage for the first time in Australia.

The duo will perform at the “Live in Sydney” concert on September 12 at the Norwest Convention Centre in New South Wales, Australia, organised by the Bengali Cineclub Australia.

Organisers have described the event as one of the most prestigious moments in Bengali rock history, calling the collaboration a landmark cultural showcase for the diaspora audience.

Both artists are expected to perform with their respective bands, revisiting some of their most popular songs that defined a generation through themes of love, nostalgia and rebellion.

James’ manager Rubaiyat Thakur Robin said discussions with organisers have been finalised, adding that preparations are progressing as planned, although detailed scheduling is still underway.

James, who has recently performed in Bangladesh as well as in the United States and Saudi Arabia, is also working on new music releases, which will be published gradually once completed.

Meanwhile, Rupam Islam is currently engaged with his new book *“Bagh Brahmo Khela”* and ongoing band projects. He is preparing for the Sydney performance amid a busy schedule.

The two artists have previously shared the stage in India, with their recent joint appearances remaining memorable among fans. Rupam expressed hope that the Sydney concert will also become a landmark musical event for Bengali rock enthusiasts worldwide.
