Japan holds off Netherlands in dramatic comeback

Japan drew 2-2 with the Netherlands in a hard-fought match in Group F despite falling behind twice. The Asian team left the field with a valuable point after Koki Ogawa's last-minute goal.

Although there were no goals in the first half of the match, the fight was intense with attacks and counterattacks. The Netherlands created several good chances, but Japan goalkeeper Gion Suzuki was firm. He especially saved Daniel Malen's header from a corner in the 34th minute.

After a goalless first half, the picture of the match changed in the second half. Captain Virgil van Dijk headed the Netherlands ahead in the 51st minute after a cross from the right. It was his first goal for the country in a major tournament.

The Netherlands came very close to victory. But Japan made a dramatic comeback at the last minute. After the end of the scheduled 90 minutes, before the end of added time, Koki Ogawa scored in the 89th minute to equalize 2-2. His goal stunned the Dutch camp, and the Japanese fans burst into joy.

After six minutes of extra time, neither team was able to score. As a result, this exciting match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Japan showed the mental strength to come back from behind twice. On the other hand, the Netherlands had to leave the field with regret after being unable to hold on to their victory even after taking two leads.
